Artist Residency Program
Make it stand out.
The Listening Point Foundation Artist in Residence Program is open to anyone wishing to create things inspired by and in relation to Sigurd Olson and his philosophy of wilderness. We have had writers, artists, composers, and academics participate in the past few years since the acquisition of the Olson family home at the end of 2014.
Stays are usually 4-5 days in length, often overlapping a weekend in either the spring or the fall. Residents are offered board in the Olson family home in Ely, MN with full access to the house, Sigurd's Writing Shack, and the Cabin out at Listening Point. No food is provided, but participants have access to all the utilities, wi-fi, and a full kitchen at the Olson family home.
There is currently no cost to participate. All that is asked is that part of the finished project/product be shared in some way with the Listening Point Foundation upon its completion (which may be after the stay at the Foundation).
For example, writers and photographers may have pieces featured in our spring or fall newsletters and our website gallery, artists may gift us finished pieces that can be used either in our silent auctions or some other purpose. We aim to foster good connections with our visiting Residents for longer term collaborations when possible.
